At Ag PhD, we have 3 goals: to help you produce more yield, to help you increase your profits, and to help you improve the environment, especially your soil.  Over the next month, we invite you to join us at our free Ag PhD Winter Workshops.  Have you noticed how almost everyone in agriculture is talking about soil health, but what is anyone really doing about that?  Sure, no-till and cover crops can help, but what is far more important initially is to properly balance your soil’s nutrition and to improve drainage.  If you have poor soil fertility and inadequate drainage, I can promise you your soil will not be healthy.  We have Soils Clinics, where perhaps the most important thing you will learn is how to best invest your fertilizer dollars to maximize profitability, but you will also see how you can get your soils in balance and figure out which nutrients are currently yield-limiting in your fields.  At our Tiling Clinics, we talk about lowering your water tables, and how when tiling is done correctly, it’s great for the environment and your pocketbook!  We know you are busy, but we will absolutely make it worth your while to spend a day or two with us talking crops and agronomy this winter!

Also, if you are tired of cold weather, now you finally have a business trip that can bring you to the Phoenix area in Arizona!  We are hosting a free Ag PhD Soils Clinic in Gilbert, which is about 5 miles from the Mesa airport.  Flights and hotels are very available and fairly reasonable in price.  If you’ve never been to that area of the country, we feel it is by far the easiest big city to get around in, because all the roads are flat and straight, and there’s almost never bad weather or even rain to make driving difficult.  Plus, you’ll find hundreds of thousands of Midwesterners there.  One other quick comment I’ve mentioned to attendees when we’ve had meetings there before – everyone is always so upbeat.  I think people are just so happy to get out of the cold, they can’t help but smile constantly.  What we’re saying here is if you’ve been looking for an excuse to go south for a few days, use the Ag PhD Soils Clinic as the business reason to justify your trip.  We hope you can join us there or at any of our upcoming free Ag PhD Winter Workshops!
